Infectious disease physician and historian Powel Kazanjian, M.D., Ph.D., traces the history of response to infectious diseases including syphilis and HIV/AIDS, and what it can teach us in the age of COVID-19.

Kazanjian heads the Division of Infectious Diseases in Michigan Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine and is also a professor of public health and history at the University of Michigan.

He gave this talk as the 19th annual Howard W. Davenport Lecture in the Medical Humanities, sponsored by the Center for the History of Medicine at the U-M Medical School.
