I am a 28-year-old autistic man, and for 25 of those years I was unable to speak even basic wants and needs. I spent much of my time in my basement on YouTube and alone because no one knew I yearned to do anything else. At times, I thought I wouldn’t survive. I am telling you this not to feel sorry for me, but in the hope that we can help others who are still locked in a silent world in which no one understands you. Apraxia is a disorder in which there is a mind-body disconnect. I am here to tell you that I am as intelligent as anyone else and have feelings and emotions just like you. My life now is better than I could have imagined, and I am able to do anything that I want to thanks to Spelling To Communicate. I now love writing on my blog, The Autistic Mind Finally Speaks. I am an author and have two books published on Amazon. The latest is The Autistic Mind Finally Speaks: Letterboard Thoughts. I also present in conferences to raise awareness about autism. I feel that I have a bright future. Autism is very misunderstood, and I want to show people what we are capable of.
