Sourdough Hot Pastrami Sandwich – A Drizzle of Delicious


A slight twist on the classic Hot Pastrami Sandwich that is oh so yummy! Packed with juicy pastrami topped with melted cheese on sourdough bread slathered with a tangy mustard mix. Have these sandwiches for lunch or dinner and on the table in less than 15 minutes!

  • Measuring Spoons
  • Small microwavable dish/bowl
  • Pastry Brush
  • Knives – Butter knife for spreading mustard and a serrated knife to cut the sandwich
  • Frying Pan with Lid
  • Spatula
  • Plate for serving

The ingredients for a pastrami sandwich are:

  • bread
  • mustard
  • pastrami
  • swiss cheese



This recipe has a slight twist, instead of using traditional rye bread we are using sourdough bread! The bread will be brushed with a butter and mayonnaise mixture so that you can toast the bread on the frying pan. On the inside of the bread you will slather a yellow mustard and dijon mixture.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A SOURDOUGH HOT PASTRAMI SANDWICH?

Making the classic hot pastrami sandwich is super easy! Follow these easy steps to make this delicious sandwich at home.

  1. Prepare and measure the ingredients. Place butter and mayonnaise into a microwave safe bowl, melt for 15 – 20 seconds and mix together. Brush this mixture over one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Mix yellow mustard and dijon mustard together. Flip the slices of bread and spread mustard mixture across the bread.
  3. Heat a frying pan over low-medium heat. Split the amount of pastrami in half and heat the pastrami for 5 minutes with the lid on.
  4. Place two slices of Swiss cheese over each section of meat. Put the lid back on the frying pan again and allow the cheese to melt for 5 minutes. Keep on low-medium heat.

5. Place the slices of bread butter side down on a frying pan over medium heat. Toast/Fry for 3 minutes (do not flip to the mustard side.) Once toasted, place the hot pastrami with melted cheese over one slice of bread per sandwich. Place the other slice of toasted bread mustard side down over the cheesy pastrami.

6. Cut sandwich in half and serve.

Sourdough Hot Pastrami Sandwich

Perfect sandwich for lunch or dinner that is packed with juicy pastrami topped with melted Swiss cheese on a toasted Sourdough bread slathered with a tangy mustard mix. Ready in 15 minutes!

Ingredients  

  • 4 slices Sourdough Bread
  • 1 pound Sliced Pastrami 1/2 pound per sandwich
  • 2 tsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Mayonnaise
  • tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • ½ tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese 2 slices per sandwich*

Instructions 

  • Prepare and measure the ingredients. Place butter and mayonnaise into a microwave safe bowl, melt for 15 – 20 seconds and mix together. Brush this mixture over one side of each slice of bread.

  • Mix yellow mustard and dijon mustard together. Flip the slices of bread and spread mustard mixture across the bread.
