A glowing 16th Century Village with lights, entertainment, shopping and so much more, read on to discover why this is going to be your families newest holiday tradition…

Every Fall, my family makes our annual excursion to the Ohio Renaissance Festival. This is a tradition we hold near and dear to our hearts. I personally experience a sense of nostalgia walking past people eating turkey legs, watching the mud show… shooting a bow and arrow because these are the same adventures my parents took me on when I was just a kid many years ago!

The Ohio Renaissance Festival grounds get a makeover for the holidays with Yuletide Village. This event illuminates the 16th century village with millions of twinkling lights. Storefronts dazzle. Fire pits blaze. Hot Cocoa fills the brim of cups. And yes… there are still turkey legs!

My family started a new holiday tradition this year by visiting Yuletide Village to experience it ourselves. Here are our notes…

Dazzled by the Lights!

We expected some lights to be strung, but wow! The grounds were totally transformed and Yuletide Village was a winter wonderland. Every storefront! Every restaurant! The bordering fence! The stages! Our family favorites included a pirate ship, the light show on the joust stage which was accompanied by holiday music and a nearby light tunnel that lead to a nicely lit bridge and stream.

Live Entertainment!

Music can be heard throughout Yuletide Village including carolers and musicians strumming holiday tunes on various instruments. It adds to the ambiance of the merry village.

Food!

The Ren Fest is known for those delicious turkey legs, and yes! You can get your fix of this carnivorous treat at Yuletide Village. There is also pizza, soup, ramen, hot cocoa, sweet treats and more available. My family really enjoyed our giant soft pretzel and fresh chicken tenders with tots. Note- if a line looks long, don’t give up. Every line we waited in moved quickly. The staff knows what they’re doing and you will have tasty food in your hands in no time.

Fun!

Kids can enjoy a pony ride (+$10), pet farm animals and even hold a bird of prey (+$). There are also visits with the jolly old elf himself, Santa AND even visits with Krampus! There is also a fun train ride, the Yuletide Express ($5, children 3 and under free), that makes its way through the village. We loved giving riders high-fives as they passed by on the train! It was so merry!

Shopping!

There are lots of fun storefronts selling items like wooden toys, unique jewelry, soaps, candles, artwork, mugs and so much more at the Yuletide Village. This is a great chance to finish your holiday shopping!
