“There are many causes for a cyst on a penile shaft, but usually, the pus filled cyst means an infection. Also, very severe allergies can also lead to pus formation, leading to a cyst with pus on the penile shaft.
But, generally, how I would like to classify it is, 1st we need to identify it’s a sexually transmitted problem or a non-sexually transmitted problem. Non-sexually transmitted problem could be a simple infection of hair roots like folliculitis or a reaction to a medicine called as fixed drug eruption, where in dark pus filled or sometimes when blood filled cysts can occur on the penile shaft. Coming to Sexually transmitted infections, we’ve to rule out all the common sexually transmitted infection that occur along with that infection. Commonest infection seen is herpis, in this infection there are several pus filled or water filled cysts, usually they are water filled, some of them can become pus filled also. Second commonest disease is chancroid, which is a bacterial infection, here we’ve to rule out other conditions also, like syphilis or HIV, which commonly occur along with these infections. Set of blood tests will identify the cause, treating this cause will get rid of cyst within a period of 5-7 days. It’s completely treatable, unless you’ve a serious problem like HIV which needs long term treatment, which can be kept controlled under modern medicines.”
