In order to stay healthy and fit, it is important to have a workable routine that fits your lifestyle and schedule. Your routine should help to achieve and then maintain your goals. Don’t expect miracles to happen overnight, noticeable results will take time. Here are a few health and fitness tips to help you on your way.

Moderation is the key. Anything done in extremes will be counterproductive and that will be quite discouraging. It will definitely be a road block or at least a speed bump on the way to your goal. Too much exercise can be just as bad as not enough exercise. Too much exercise does not allow your body to rest properly and return to its normal state. Not enough exercise allows your body to become lazy, making fitness goals harder to achieve.

Have a plan in place. Your plan will describe your goal and keep you on track to achieving that goal. Your plan is your check list of events to take place in order to make your goal a reality. There is something very satisfying and rewarding about putting a check mark, or better yet, a gold star next to each mile stone you complete as you climb your ladder of health and fitness success. Set aside time in your schedule on a regular basis for your health and fitness routine. If you leave it to “when I have time”, health and fitness will always stay on your incomplete list.

Eat properly. Like an automobile, your body needs the proper fuel to work and be efficient. Take the time to learn a little bit about proper nutrition. Check into your local adult education classes and you may find they offer classes on nutrition and perhaps healthy cooking as well. If you are a member of a gym or fitness club, they most likely have nutritionists on staff that can point you in the right direction and down the right grocery aisle. Take a spin around the World Wide Web and you will find a vast wealth of information. Self education is always a good thing but consult your doctor for nutrition information regarding any medical condition you may have and any medication you may be taking. Nutrition, along with responsible health care, is a must for any health and fitness plan.

Exercise. Exercising, to some seen as a necessary evil, is an important component to health and fitness. It keeps your body tuned up and your spirits in high gear. Pick exercises or an exercise program that match your fitness level. As your fitness levels rises, so can your level of exercise challenge or difficulty. Anything to complicated will be discouraging and just short circuit your goal. It is okay to push the envelope a little but if you push the envelope too much, it will eventually push back and the results probably will not be pretty. Join a health club or exercise group and work with folks with similar goals. It will make your health and fitness plan easier to succeed.
