PAN Study Telegram #6

In this series, PAN member Cirus David Henn brings you close to the latest and most interesting scientific publications in the fields of nutrition and nutritional medicine.

This week’s topic: Long term health benefits of blueberries
There is growing evidence that blueberries and their main bioactive compounds, especially anthocyanins, have beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. So far, only short-term scientific evidence has been available, but in 2019, a group of researchers put together a 6-month, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial investigating the long-term effects of blueberries on cardiometabolic health. This is the first part of a three-part video series on their remarkable findings.

With this format, we would like to present the latest research and discuss strengths and weaknesses of various levels of evidence and the respective scientific approaches and methods. First and foremost, we are interested in sparking the scientific discussion in the field of nutrition and medicine. As this is a platform for evidence-based nutritional medicine and the respective exchange needed to advance it, we happily invite you to join the respectful and constructive conversation below the video.

The Physicians Association for Nutrition (PAN) was founded in 2018 as an officially recognized nonprofit organization located in Munich, Germany.
PAN aims to raise awareness among health professionals and medical students, policymakers, and the public about the role of plant-based nutrition in promoting good health and preventing diet-related diseases.
PAN is expanding and constantly launching new national PAN offices around the world to work effectively under local conditions and maximize impact.
