Moggy’s transformation will melt your heart. 💕

Being feral, FIV+, quite ferocious, sick and in need of eye surgery, Moggy would have been euthanized almost anywhere.

After the hardships he’s survived, we knew he deserved a chance to experience love, comfort and freedom from pain… on his terms.

We didn’t know if he could be happy living indoors, or if he could overcome past traumas and feel safe around humans. We had to work really hard to figure out how to connect with him, while having to provide the intensive medical care he needed.

To see him enjoying being petted, playing and even purring two months later is the second most amazing thing ever!!!

The most amazing thing ever is that he will be going HOME next week, where he will be safe and warm indoors, and will be able to experience the life he always deserved, with Pauline, the wonderful woman who found him.

We could not be more relieved, grateful and thrilled to see him get his second chance. ♥️

Moggy was worth saving!

This stream will switch to our flood ferals, Dodger, Indy, Campbell and Russet.

OCT 4, 2021: Shiner went into labor early this morning, and delivered her first kitten at 3:19am, followed by 12 intense hours of interrupted labor, Mora giving her a biscuit-massage, and then contractions finally starting for kitten #2. Kitten #1 is a 114g tuxie girl with type B blood, and kitten #2 is a 122g ginger tuxie boy with type B blood – WHEW!! Also, Birdie has explosive eye pus with a range of about 12 inches. Rescue reality is intense sometimes.

OCT 2, 2021: We are treating Birdie and Burton for symptoms of Feline Herpesvirus (very common URI). They got it from their mama.

SEP 25, 2021: We experienced the tragic reality of cat overpopulation today, as we lost Mora’s first born kitten. Blossom had a congenital heart defect which caused her heart to fail. Birdie and Burton are doing well.

SEP 18, 2021: Mora gave birth to three beautiful TYPE B kittens! Mom and babies are doing well so far.

SEP 14, 2021: We trapped feral catermelons Mora and Shiner from our River cats colony so they can give birth for the last time in our care. The two have an incredibly close bond. Both cats have type B blood, which puts their kittens at risk of a fatal blood type mismatch, called neonatal isoerythrolysis (the same as Pomelo). In the wild, kittens with different blood types would not survive. Thankfully, we will be able to provide intensive intervention during delivery and for the first 24 hours afterward that will save their lives. Meet the River cats: http://tinykittens.com/river

Please keep in mind Mora and Shiner are feral cats, which means they have not interacted with humans until this point. While we do everything possible to reduce stress, we know we can’t completely eliminate it. They are definitely scared. Because we will have to blood type each kitten as it is born, we will need to push a bit harder than normal to try to build their confidence with humans as much as possible prior to the onset of labor. It’s going to be stressful for all of us, but everything we are doing has a reason and is in the best interest of the cat.

JUN 11, 2021: Feral rescue cat Pomelo gave birth to seven beautiful, blood type mismatched kittens. One was stillborn. Watch the birth and read about the situation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URwk_u4b_t0

APR 3, 2021: Sushi’s family loved her very much, but when circumstances changed and they were unable to find housing that allowed pets, they were forced to give her up. The shortage of pet-friendly, affordable housing in our area is a huge problem, and seems to have gotten even worse with the pandemic.

Our hearts break for everyone affected by these situations, but we are very happy to be able to help by providing the best possible care to Sushi and her babies, and making sure they are all spayed and neutered before adopting them into loving homes.
