Pain is scary. When we talk about birth we think about pain. This is Jessica’s story.

Fifth Baby. Scheduled Induction. Two important goals: Have an epidural-free birth and have sweet baby Mattox into her arms.

Pitocin is common to induce contractions after the cervix is ripe enough. It can intensify the pain and make contractions come closer together.

I went in first thing in the morning at 7:30 p.m. when they started and went back home. Inductions can take time and I lived close to the hospital. After one update about breaking her water I though about coming in but hesitated. It wasn’t until she said “Things are getting real” I picked up my bag and left. Ten minutes into the room and he was born at 3:33 p.m.

She made embracing the pain look powerful.

Inspiring.

Goals are attainable even in birth.
