From muscle tanks to cropped tops, I’m sharing 10 of the best women’s athletic tank tops that are sweaty workout approved. This post contains affiliate links.
Wearing: Athleta’s Conscious Crop
The right workout attire can make or break a workout. Just like your favorite pair of leggings can make you feel like a goddess during your workout (hah!), having the proper top for your workout is key, too.
I have a few different tank tops that I prefer for Peloton rides, while I gravitate towards others for gym classes or walking to and from preschool or downtown Cville on a hot summer day.
For me, the top priorities for athletic tanks tops are to be: a) comfortable, b) sweat wicking, and c) flattering for my body type.
I’ll be honest, I turned my cheek to the copped styles until more recently when I realized, hey, they do complement high waisted leggings. However you still won’t find me wearing them anywhere but my home gym : )
I’ve rounded up 10 of the best workout tank tops in trending styles for various budgets and bust sizes, but all get a stamp of approval for sweaty workouts and active lifestyles.
Wearing: Athleta’s Vital Tank – one of my favorites and oh so soft!
10 Best Women’s Athletic Tank Tops
I really like this form fitting tank for yoga, in particular for any inversion poses, as it stays put. The fabric is extremely breathable, with the back being mesh to allow for excellent air flow.
It’s on the shorter side, but it does not budge during a workout! Great for jumping and downward facing dogs alike.
I also love the high neck and wider straps (which you’ll see are a theme in this post!)
I highly recommend the Conscious Crop as my go-to everyday sports bra. It’s one of Athleta’s most popular items.
I love it for Peloton rides and it performs as a medium support sports bra and tank all in one. It sits just above your waist, so it goes perfectly with any high waisted leggings.
I also love that it comes in a style for A-C cup sizes, and D-DD+ cup sizes (me!). My VA, Hillary, and I both give this tank 5 stars.
I have to say that muscle tanks are some of my favorites because they usually have a high heck and wides sleeves (to show less skin) – what can say, I’m a bit modest.
I have a similar version of this in two colors that I love to wear as a “regular” tank (aka around town) and not just for workouts.
This tank is long enough to cover your bum with leggings, or you can tie or tuck it into a pair of your favorite shorts. Lulu’s pima cotton is sweetly soft.
This tank is ideal for the sweatiest workouts. Think impact workouts where you’re up, down, and moving all around. The fast-drying Everlux™ Fabric feels cool on the inside, and soft and brushed on the outside. Lululemon’s fabrics are some of the best.
This is a very similar style of a Peloton muscle tank I own that I bought with some Peloton credits. I’ve actually really liked a the pieces I’ve bought from their collection (I have a great pair of joggers too). All of their muscle tanks are great.
5. Old Navy Light Support Longline Sports Bra in PowerSoft Fabric
This is technically marketed as a sports bra, as it has a built in bra, but can really be worn as a tank top with its longline style. Its light support is ideal for low impact activities like walking and yoga, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for heavier busts. The PowerSoft fabric is lightly compressive and super smooth.
6. Old Navy Light Support Longline Sports Bra in PowerChill Fabric
This is one of Hillary’s current favorite workout tanks for weight lifting. Not only is the price great, but she loves how she doesn’t have to wear a supportive sports bra underneath a tank – sometimes it’s just too bulky feeling.
This one has great coverage while still being cute. She’s even worn it out with jeans. Workout clothes that double as regular clothes, yes please!
While I probably won’t be purchasing this tank for myself, it comes highly recommended with almost 1,000 reviews and was recommended when I asked you guys for your favs!
I personally like more coverage and support, but this ribbed cropped is a favorite for smaller busted women. Wear it for walking, low impact activities, or layer it for hiking adventures.
8. All in Motion™ Women’s Active Cropped Tank Top (at Target)
I love the waffle knit and side slit of this moisture-wicking tank. The cropped styles are really growing on me. And for $16, you can’t beat it!
Y’all love the Vuori Performance Joggers, so it’s no wonder this racerback tank is a fan favorite too. It’s form fitting (but breathable) with a scoop neck and slender racerback. This tank will perform for whichever type of workout you throw at it.
If you’re looking for a great tank for hot summer runs, this lightweight tank with quick drying fabric is a must. I love the tulip hem that gives it a feminine touch.
